"Do It Electrically" Promotional Poster Stamp - This stamp was used to help promote the use of electricity in its early days - a great piece of history! - Stamp Measures about 2 5/8 x 1 7/8 inches

The poster stamp was an advertising label, a little larger than most postage stamps, that originated in the mid-19th century and quickly became a collecting craze, growing in popularity until World War One and then declining by World War Two. Today older poster stamps are an interesting and inexpensive way to hold a piece of World or American history.
This stamp is similar to those of the Poster Stamp Collectors Book "Lick 'Em Stick 'Em, The Lost Art Of Poster Stamps" by H. Thomas Steele, 1989 Edition. This stamp is part of a large advanced collection assembled by the late Leonard Stark, who was a significant expert, collector and contributor to the Lick Em Stick Em Book.
