In 2001 the USPS honored Physicist Enrico Fermi, whom received the Nobel Prize in 1938 for his experiments with neutrons. Fermi escaped fascist Italy and moved to the United States, where he supervised the first controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction. He helped develop the atom bomb that ended World War II.
