1998 Remember the Maine Block of 4 32c Postage Stamps - MNH, OG - Sc# 3192
Issued on February 15, 1998 in Key West, FL., the USPS recognized the 100th anniversary of the USS Maine voyage to Havana Harbor to protect American interests from the growing conflict in Cuba. On February 15, the Maine mysteriously exploded, killing approximately 260 servicemen. This event, coupled with the yellow journalism of Joseph Pulitzer, would soon lead to the Spanish-American War.
These are real USPS postage stamps that are accepted by the USA Postal Service as payment for mail posted in the USA however the total rates on the stamps posted must equal or exceed the current appropriate postal mailing rate or extra postage must be paid.
