1987 Julia Ward Howe Women's Suffrage Plate Block of 4 14c Postage Stamps - MNH, OG - Sc# 2176
Issued in 1987 as the 36th addition of the Great American Series, honoring Julia Ward Howe. Perhaps best known for writing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", Howe was co-editor of an anti-slavery periodical "The Commonwealth". After the Civil War she founded the American Women's Suffrage Association, and started the Mother's Day holiday in 1872.
