1983 Pearl Buck Plate Block of 4 5c Postage Stamps - MNH, OG - Sc# 1848
On June 25 1983 in Hillsboro WV the USPS honored American writer Pearl Sydenstricker Buck. She was a prolific American Sinologist and Pulitzer Prize winner, and the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, for her rich and truly epic descriptions of peasant life in China and for her biographical masterpieces. Buck died in 1973 at the age of 80.
