1935 Philippines FAM 14 First Flight Cover Manila Honolulu Pan Am Clipper

Attractive and historically significant first flight cover carried on the inaugural transpacific Pan American Airways Clipper service, FAM Route 14, departing Manila December 2, 1935 and arriving Honolulu December 4, 1935 - just two days transit on one of the most celebrated airmail routes in aviation history.

The cover originates from The Insular Life insurance company in Manila and is franked with a near-complete set of the Commonwealth of the Philippines inaugural issue (the "Temples of Human Progress" design): 2c, 6c, 16c, 36c, and 50c values, along with a 30c Philippines airmail stamp and 10c stamp - all tied by Manila December 2, 1935 cancels. The stamps were issued just weeks earlier to mark the establishment of the Philippine Commonwealth, making their use on this inaugural Clipper flight entirely deliberate and historically appropriate.

Sent registered mail (Manila Registry No. 2822), with a bold Manila Registry Section backstamp and two Honolulu, Hawaii arrival backstamps dated December 4, 1935. Front bears the attractive Pacific route map cachet showing the Manila-Guam-Wake-Midway-Honolulu routing and the printed "Via Pan-American Airways Clipper Dec 2 1935" designation. Also noted: red "INITIAL FLIGHT 1935" label at lower right.

Cover shows normal handling and age-related toning consistent with 90-year-old cover. Overall a presentable and desirable item for the transpacific airmail or Philippines Commonwealth collector.
