Scarce event cover commemorating the first visit of the U.S. Navy flying aircraft carrier USS Macon (ZRS-5) to her namesake city of Macon, Georgia, October 13, 1933. Bears the bold pink circular "First Visit ZRS-5 U.S.S. Macon / Macon, GA. U.S.A." cachet dated October 13, 1933. Franked with a period-appropriate combination of two 3¢ NRA stamps (Scott 732), ½¢ Washington, and 2¢ Yorktown issue on a red/blue bordered airmail envelope. Addressed to Youngstown, Ohio via air mail.

The USS Macon was the U.S. Navy's second helium-filled flying aircraft carrier, commissioned June 1933 and lost in a Pacific storm in February 1935 - an operational life of less than two years. Her brief service makes covers from her few public appearances genuinely scarce. This first visit to her namesake city represents one of the most significant civic events of her short career.

Condition: Excellent. Front bright with strong cachet impression. Back completely clean with no staining. Minor corner wear lower left consistent with age. An above-average example.
