1931 FAM 6 First Flight Cover St Thomas Virgin Islands to San Pedro de Macoris

FAM Route 6 first flight cover originated from Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands, cancelled December 5, 1931 and carried on the inaugural airmail service to San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Franked with the 10 cent Winged Globe airmail stamp (Scott C10). Features the diamond-shaped "First Flight Air Mail / St. Thomas / San Pedro de Macoris / Nuevitas / F.A.M. Route 6" cachet in purple ink at center left, plus "Par Avion / By Air Mail" blue label at upper left. Large purple transit handstamp at center.

Addressed to Mr. Carroll L. Weber, Care of Postmaster, San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic - a prepared collector cover from the well-known Louisville, Kentucky flight cover collector, with handwritten return instruction on reverse: "After 10 days return to 630 W. Ormsby Ave., Louisville, Ky. USA." Reverse bears the Republica Dominicana arrival backstamp dated December 9, 1931, confirming genuine flight carriage.

The Saint Thomas origin point represents the less common leg of the FAM 6 route, making this a complementary and potentially more desirable piece to specialists compared to the more frequently seen Miami originations.

Condition is good overall with light aging consistent with age. Back is clean and presentable.
