FAM Route 6 inaugural first flight cover, January 9, 1929, flown from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to North Bennington, Vermont on Pan American Airways' historic Caribbean airmail inaugural. Franked with the 10 centavos blue airmail map stamp and a block of four ½ centavo Alcazar de Colon definitives - an unusual and visually appealing stamp combination - tied by Santo Domingo circular datestamp. Route handstamp on face records intermediate Caribbean stops. Return address on reverse identifies the sender as Thos. F. Norris, Apartado 792, Santo Domingo City, Dominican Republic.

Reverse bears the Miami, Florida backstamp dated January 10, 1929 at 6:30 PM confirming next-day transit through Miami, plus "Air Mail Saves Time" slogan marking.

A particularly appealing feature: the cover has never been opened and retains its original contents - the letter inside has traveled sealed since January 1929, nearly a century ago, its contents unknown and undisturbed. A complete time capsule from the FAM 6 inaugural.
