FAM Route 6 inaugural first flight cover, January 10, 1929, flown from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to San Juan, Porto Rico on Pan American Airways' historic Caribbean airmail inaugural. Franked with the 10 centavos blue airmail map stamp and a block of four ½ centavo Alcazar de Colon definitives - an unusual and visually appealing stamp combination - tied by Santo Domingo circular datestamp. Route handstamp on face records intermediate Caribbean stops including Port-au-Prince, Haiti and San Juan, Porto Rico. Return address on reverse identifies the sender as Thos. F. Norris, Apartado 792, Santo Domingo City, Dominican Republic.

Addressed to Colonel George Lewis, Chief of Insular Police, San Juan, Porto Rico - the commanding officer of Puerto Rico's entire law enforcement apparatus, making this a cover with a genuinely distinguished addressee at the destination end. Reverse bears the San Juan, P.R. arrival backstamp dated January 10, 1929 at 5:30 PM confirming same-day delivery on the inaugural flight.

A particularly compelling feature: the cover has never been opened and retains its original contents - the letter inside has traveled sealed since January 1929, nearly a century ago, its contents unknown and undisturbed. Whatever correspondence Thos. F. Norris sent to the Chief of Insular Police on the day of the FAM 6 inaugural remains sealed inside, a complete time capsule from a historic moment in Caribbean aviation.
