1929 FAM 6 Inaugural First Flight Cover Miami -Santo Domingo Dominican Republic

Outstanding FAM Route 6 inaugural first flight cover, mailed from Miami, Florida January 9, 1929 - the original first flight on this Caribbean international airmail route, predating the more commonly seen 1931 FAM 6 covers by two years. Features the large rectangular "First Flight Air Mail from Miami / International F.A.M. 6" cachet with Caribbean map and aircraft vignette, one of the more elaborate and attractive cachets used on this route.

Franked with an appealing mixed franking: the 2 cent International Civil Aeronautics Conference commemorative stamp plus two 5 cent Beacon on Rocky Mountains airmail stamps (Scott C11), totaling 12 cents - correct period franking with strong visual appeal. Miami, Fla. cancel January 9, 1929.

Addressed to Mr. Carroll L. Weber, c/o Postmaster, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - a prepared cover from the well-known Louisville, Kentucky flight cover collector. Reverse bears the Santo Domingo arrival backstamp January 10, 1929 - remarkable one-day transit from Miami - plus an exceptional onward routing handstamp reading "De Santo Domingo a Port-Au-Prince Haiti / San Juan Pto. Rico / Santiago de Cuba" documenting the full Caribbean airmail network connections at the time of this inaugural flight. Envelope printed by Standard Printing Co., Louisville, Ky.

Condition is good overall with light aging consistent with age. Back is clean and presentable.
