Charming registered commercial cover from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic to Chicago, Illinois, dated February 26, 1929. Sent by Hubert A. Shoy of the Universal Book Store, San Pedro de Macoris - addressed to M.A. Donohue Co., 701-733 Dearborn Street, Chicago, one of the era's prominent publishers and booksellers. A Caribbean bookstore corresponding with a major American publisher makes for a delightfully logical piece of commercial postal history. Franked with the 2 centavos red and 10 centavos blue Alcazar de Colon definitives - the same design in two different values and colors - tied by San Pedro de Macoris cancel. Bold purple "Registered" handstamp with red registration number 97956. Blue transit handstamps on face record the routing.

The reverse is the showstopper: a large red wax seal remains largely intact at center - the registered mail security seal applied to prevent tampering in transit, remarkably well preserved after nearly a century. Two Chicago, Illinois registered section backstamps dated March 5, 1929 flank the wax seal, confirming delivery through the registered mail system. Some toning on face and reverse consistent with age.

A genuinely distinctive piece combining registered mail security features, an evocative commercial sender and receiver, and a well-documented 1929 transit record.
