1929 Dominican Republic Airmail Cover Santo Domingo to Ford Motor Co Canal Zone

Exceptional multi-franked commercial airmail cover from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to the Ford Motor Company, Colon, Canal Zone, Panama, dated November 22, 1929. Sent by the Atlas Commercial Company, C. por A., Santo Domingo - genuine business-to-business correspondence between a Dominican firm and one of America's most iconic corporations at their Canal Zone operation. Franked on the front with five Dominican Republic stamps - a pair of 1 centavo green portrait definitives, the 5 centavo blue coat of arms, the 2 centavo red portrait, and the 10 centavo blue airmail map stamp - making a colorful and visually striking five-stamp franking. Two Santo Domingo circular datestamps and the Correo Aereo biplane handstamp tie the front franking. "Colon" crossed out in red with routing notation reflects the cover's postal journey.

The reverse features a block of four Scott C11 5¢ Beacon airmail stamps plus an additional single applied to the left - five C11s in total - providing the US postage required for Canal Zone delivery. The right side of the block of four shows trimming from the cover having been opened, a natural consequence of genuine use. Canal Zone arrival backstamp on reverse confirms delivery. Small tear at left edge of front; some creasing and toning consistent with the cover's well-traveled history.
