Visually spectacular postal card carried on the Graf Zeppelin's historic inaugural eastbound transatlantic crossing, canceled Maplewood, N.J. October 1928 and backstamped Friedrichshafen on arrival - confirming actual carriage. Bears the large purple oval "First Flight Air Mail / Via Graf Zeppelin / United States - Germany / Oct 28 1928" cachet with handwritten "Via German Airship L.Z. 127 Graf Zeppelin / From Lakehurst N.J. U.S.A." endorsement. Addressed to Familie Hausch, Berlin, Germany.

The franking is exceptional - the complete set of four sequential airmail issues Scott C8 (15¢ Map), C9 (20¢ Map), C10 (10¢ Lindbergh), and C11 (5¢ Beacon) together with a 2¢ Washington and the 1¢ printed postal card stamp - totaling the correct 53¢ Graf Zeppelin postcard rate.
