1927 Philippines Boxing Stadium Cover Manila Ceferino Garcia Harry Wills Card

Exceptional and visually striking Philippines boxing promotional cover - one of the finest crossover pieces you will find combining 1927 Manila boxing history with Philippines postal history.

The cover announces weekly Saturday night boxing at the Stadium and lists a full schedule of ten coming events, running from October 29 through December 31, 1927. The fight card includes several historically significant names:

Harry Wills (November 5, vs. Irineo Flores) - the celebrated "Black Panther" heavyweight contender, one of the most avoided fighters of the era, famously denied a title shot by Jack Dempsey despite being widely considered a legitimate challenger.

Ceferino Garcia (December 24, vs. Kid Moro) - a genuine world champion who would go on to capture the NBA middleweight title, considered one of the greatest Filipino fighters in boxing history and credited with developing the bolo punch. This cover documents one of his earliest recorded bouts.

Luis Logan vs. Jimmy Hill (December 17) - the rematch of the same matchup advertised on a companion cover from this same collection, also addressed to the same recipient, Dr. Chas. S. Banks, 1411 Leveriza, Malate, Manila. Dr. Banks appears to have been a regular Stadium subscriber, making these two covers a natural companion pair with a documented provenance connection.
