Genuine early commercial cover from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, cancelled April 22, 1908 - over 115 years old. Sent by the Macoris Dredging, Wharf & Storage Co., an evocatively named enterprise operating during the height of the Dominican sugar boom era when San Pedro de Macoris was one of the Caribbean's most active commercial ports. Franked with the 5 centavos Dominican Republic blue coat of arms definitive, tied by San Pedro de Macoris circular datestamp. Addressed to The M.A. Winter Co., Armory Building, 5th & L Streets, Washington D.C. - genuine business-to-business commercial correspondence between a Caribbean port operation and a Washington firm.

Reverse bears Washington D.C. arrival backstamp dated April 30, 1908 - an 8-day transit from the Dominican Republic to Washington - plus Washington Station G machine cancel and the recipient's red "Received May 1, 1908" office rubber stamp confirming the letter was processed and opened. Some brown toning to reverse consistent with age; front displays well with only minor foxing.

A genuine piece of early Caribbean commercial postal history from the pre-WWI era.
