1905 Philippines OB Official Cover Bacolod Bureau Internal Revenue HR Harmer

Scarce and attractive early American administration Philippines official cover, previously offered through the prestigious H.R. Harmer auction house and described at that time as Very Fine and scarce.

Franked with a 2c carmine Philippines stamp (Scott 240 variety) bearing the handstamped blue "OB" (Official Business) overprint, tied by a bold Bacolod, Negros Occidental duplex cancel dated July 25, 1905. Manila arrival backstamp on reverse dated August 1905. The Trifone Stanicich collector notation appears on the back, indicating prior ownership by a known Philippines specialist.

The corner card identifies the sender as the Bureau of Internal Revenue of the Philippine Islands, Manila, with the printed signature of the Collector of Internal Revenue - an impressive early official government cover from just a few years into the American colonial administration.

A few minor nicks along the top edge as noted in the original Harmer description, otherwise presenting very well. The right edge is separated from the back however the left edge and bottom remain connected. The original Harmer auction label is included with the cover.

Condition: Very Fine with minor nicks at top edge. Harmer auction label included. See photos.
