Commercial cover, New Orleans to Berlin, Germany, November 1894. U.S. 2-cent Washington postal stationery envelope uprated with Scott 253 3-cent Jackson violet to meet the 5-cent foreign letter rate. Cancelled New Orleans November 6, 1894, with New York transit backstamp November 8 and Berlin carrier backstamp from Postamt 43, November 20, 1894, indicating prompt transatlantic delivery.

Corner card return address of S. Hernsheim Bros. & Co., Corner Julia and Magazine Streets, New Orleans, Louisiana - a prominent New Orleans tobacco and cigar merchant of the period. Addressed to Mr. Paul Gottwald, Neue Königstrasse 84, Berlin, Germany, in period manuscript.

Cover shows edge wear and flap tear at top consistent with age. Franking, cancellations, and backstamps all clear and legible.
