1853 Breat Britain Scott 4&5 Green Embossed+2d Blue Cover to Philadelphia

Great Britain 1853 combination cover bearing Scott #5 (SG 55), the 1-shilling green embossed octagonal issue, and Scott #4 (SG 4), the Two Pence Blue imperforate, plate letters E-A, addressed to F.A. Packard Esq., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Both stamps are cancelled by the London numeral "19" duplex cancels. A bold red "5 CENTS" handstamp applied at Philadelphia marks the US inland postage due from the recipient. The cover is endorsed "p Steamer via Liverpool" in manuscript. A London hexagonal "L / SP 9 / A" transit datestamp appears at lower left, dated September 9, 1853. The reverse shows a September 8 dispatch marking.

Condition - please read carefully:

Scott #5 (1-shilling embossed): Cut to shape along the octagonal frame - no sheet margin paper showing. Cancel is clear and well-struck.

Scott #4 (Two Pence Blue, E-A): Small to decent margins at top, left, and right. Bottom margin clips into the "TWO PENCE" inscription. No tears or thins noted.

Cover itself shows expected age toning and handling consistent with 170+ years. Some soiling and creasing present.

An attractive and legitimate piece of mid-Victorian transatlantic postal history with both stamps carrying matching cancels and full documented routing.
