This is a numbered plate block of 4 stamps as pictured. (plate number may vary from stock picture) * * * On July 12 2004 in Stanford CA the USPS celebrated the birthdate of Richard Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller, American architect, author, designer, futurist, inventor and visionary. Throughout his life, he was concerned with the question "Does humanity have a chance to survive lastingly and successfully on planet Earth, and if so, how? Fuller was well known for his work on the development of the Geodesic Dome, using multiple tetrahedrons (triangular pyramids). It was the first building that could sustain its own weight regardless of size. Fuller died in 1983 at the age of 87.
