This is a numbered plate block of 4 stamps as pictured. (plate number may vary from stock picture) ~ Issued in 1996 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Olympics. Depicted here is Myron's statue "Discobolus." Although the original bronze sculpture from 5th century B.C. no longer exists, several copies sculpted in marble during Roman times survive today. The engraving on the stamp is based on a copy housed in the Museo Nazionale Romano delle Terme in Rome.
