1965 Robert Fulton Plate Block Of 4 5c Postage Stamps - MNH, OG - Sc# 1270`- CX250

This is a numbered plate block of 4 stamps as pictured. (Scott #1270) Issued on August 19, 1965 in Clermont, NY; the US Post Office Dept. commemorated Robert Fulton, inventor of the first successful commercial steamship, the Clermont. Fulton is also credited with the design of the Nautilus, first practical submarine in history, and also of inventing some of the world's earliest naval torpedoes for use by the British Army.
